Blurb: Anitech will be hosting an informative webinar on the 3rd of March, at 11am, on how implementation of the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Standards can give business’ the edge they need to stay competitive in a changing marketplace. The webinar will discuss some of the changing OH&S challenges workplaces are facing right now, and how the implementation of these standards can help companies develop a clear process for staying on top of their legal obligations, as well as documenting what steps they are taking to keep their worksites safe, supportive, and compliant.

The past year has been a challenging time for business’ across Australia, as they have been required to make a huge number of changes to their daily operations, to ensure that it could stay running, that staff and onsite visitors are provided with a safe working environment, and that their ability to continue to produce the same quality of work was not impacted. As such, many organisations are looking for ways to gain a competitive edge in this challenging environment and demonstrate their ability to adopt a ‘business as usual’ approach to their work duties. This is why Anitech is hosting a webinar later this month on some proactive steps that companies can be taking right now to ensure some continuity to their operations, and that they can continue to deliver the high standards of customer service expected of them.

The webinar is titled How business’ can get the edge by implementing the ISO 45001 OH&S Standards, and it will be hosted by industry professionals and specialists, who work at providing tailored advice to business’ about proactive strategies they can be taking right now to keep their operations afloat and ensure that changes to the marketplace do not impact the ability of their organisation to deliver a high-quality customer service experience.

It will discuss how the International Organization for Standardization’s ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Standards have become the go-to rule book for business’ looking to ensure their work health and safety practices meet legal and industry requirements, that they not only stay on top of their legal obligations but provide clear documentation about how they are doing so, and that they are fostering a physically and mentally safe, supportive work environment, with clear support networks in place for staff who need them.

It will also cover how by implementing these standards, business’ are going above and beyond, by demonstrating a commitment to staff safety and also proving to customers, employees, stakeholders, and industry bodies, that the operations recognises the scope of potential risks that could impact them, and is taking pre-emptive measures to ensure their operations remains a compliant, safe environment, with clear processes in place to support the health, safety, and wellbeing of their staff and customers.

The webinar will be hosted on the 3rd of March at 11am AEDT, and it will cover a number of important business topics, including:

  • The advantages the new internationally recognised OH&S Standards have over the previous ones, AS/NZS 4801 and OHSAS 18001, that are being phased out. Business’ already certified to one of those standards have until September 2021 to migrate to the new standards, but it is advised to do so at their earliest convenience. This is because the new standards have several advantages over the older ones, including a focus on controlling risks rather than hazard control. This means that they adopt a more pre-emptive approach, and work to ensure potential OH&S risks are mitigated before they impact operations, as opposed to the reactive approach of the older standards, which worked at minimising the risks posed by existing hazards.
  • How the wider scope of risk-control and OH&S management within the standards provides tangible, quantifiable benefits to organisations. This is because the standards help business’ to develop an overall supportive operations, with clear risk-management processes in place, easy-to-understand procedures of what to do in the event of an incident, a clear incident reporting hierarchy which sees staff trained on their specific OH&S responsibilities, and so on. This approach sees the business develop a more streamlined, simple approach to work health and safety, which can result in benefits such as improved morale, increased productivity, and quicker processes.
  • How the number of OH&S incidents within the workplace should gradually decrease after implementing these standards. This is because the forward-thinking approach to work health and safety practices outlined within actively helps business’ to audit their existing practices for potential risks and inefficiencies, and substitute them with proven successful safety measures that work to ensure that employee safety is never compromised. In turn, this works at promoting a more productive, efficient, happy work environment for everyone.
